Navigating an unfamiliar medical system in Africa

Recently AIMS stepped in to assist an Australian family when the husband suffered a stroke while travelling in Africa as tourists and he had to be admitted to hospital in Johannesburg.

“Our travel insurance company sent us to the hospital, where a member of the AIMS team met with us. They were an absolute wonder to us in a time of crisis. AIMS helped us understand and navigate an unfamiliar medical system and was very supportive and reassuring.”

AIMS assisted in this case by meeting the family and patient at the hospital. AIMS helped the patient through the recovery journey by navigating an unfamiliar medical system. Getting the correct medical care and treatment and retrieving all copies of test results and reports that the patient needed to take back to their doctor in Australia.

The AIMS Team also facilitated the patient in the rather complex series of documentation required to enable authorisation for the patient and his family flights home to Australia. This is all part of the excellent and prompt support that AIMS strives for every day.

Appreciation for AIMS quality care

Read the feedback from our client:

“I am writing to express our sincere thanks to the AIMS Team, for looking after us during my husband’s recent admission to hospital in Johannesburg. We are from Australia and were visiting Africa as tourists, when my husband very unexpectedly suffered a stroke.

AIMS helped to advocate for us to be given copies of test results and reports that we needed to take back to our doctors in Australia. The AIMS Team also facilitated us to provide the rather complex series of documentation required to enable authorisation for our flights home to be brought forward.

Thank you so much for the excellent and prompt support. We need more people like you and companies like AIMS in this world.”
